What is behind your choice of forum user name?
by stuckinarut2 injust curious how we all think.. what prompted or influenced your choice of username for this forum?.
there are some really amazing names, and it would be great to hear the stories behind them.... mine was nothing fancy.
i just felt "stuck in a rut too" along with so many others.

I was 18 1/2 yrs. old when I departed from the Jws. A friend who
had joined the Naval Reserve suggested that I should join also.
Since I wasn't quite old enough yet to join without parental consent
I had to wait several months until I was 18.5 yr.s old in order to enlist
in the Naval Reserve by myself. When I joined it was the Old Navy.
It was a great career by the way (21 yrs.) which provided a top notch
education in Electronics Technology. No regrets.
Surprisingly, there were quite a few exJws in the Navy.

Why does this forum tolerate Cold steele and his mormonism beliefs ? Who`s next ?
by smiddy ini thought this forum was for people who were ex jw`s and pro jw`s and the like to debate ,discuss and reasonably talk about our differences ,and sometimes drift off into politics world events and whatever.. however over a period of time i have come across cold steel `s many posts which are nothing more than promoting his mormon religions point of view./beliefs what has that got to do with jehovahs witnesses and the concerns many have with the jw religion.?.
it seems to me he is using this forum to promote his religion and is getting away with it over a long period of time.. how long before other cult religions see this as a springboard for promoting their own religion such as .
sda`s ,christian scientists , christadelphians ,beroean bible students ,etc.etc.. where will it end if he is able to keep doing this ?.

I dunno, it seems that some may be too easily "offended." That claim in the forum setting has always troubled me.
I appreciate diverse viewpoints, no matter how off the wall they may appear to be.
I do understand that many X-Jws will never completely escape the depths of their indoctrination and programming and will be haunted by feelings of "exclusivity" forevermore. It's a very strong and prevalent emotion which arises in many discussions of TTATT.
Some of us have been less affected by the attempts at mind control; while I was indeed in the WTO as a Jw, it was never in me. If the propagated doctrine didn't make sense to me as a "doctrine of men" I rejected it. Silently of course.
Unfortunately, not all X-witnesses had been able to shield themselves from the deceptive repetitions so skillfully delivered within the Kingdom Halls and continue to struggle mightily for years to overcome the "triggers" and the emotional subconscious manifestation.
Learning to Love is a difficult task. Our "enemies" even!

My involvement with the witnesses began in the summer of 1957. One of my close friends in high school was a witness and that is when I became aware of it. I was baptized by the witnesses, but back then it wasn't a baptism into the society - it was done biblically in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I attended meetings at the Kingdom Hall, participated in the Ministry School and was a publisher who went from door to door. The young people in the congregation frequently had parties where dancing and kissing were indulged in without any adult supervision or chaperoning. Apparently we were trusted to not to go too far. We had normal relations with our worldy classmates and friends and even dated them if we desired. My witness classmate was steady with one of the girls in class who was a Presbyterian. Looking back to those days, while comparing things with how the society operates today, clarifies poignantly the degree of increased control and cultish procedures.
Was that congregation unusually loose? Have any other old-timers had similar experiences?

How Knowledge is Dissipated in Talks
by Cold Steel inlondo111 » each congregation has a “talk coordinator”.
talk coordinators will coordinate with other talk coordinators in order to find speakers to give the public talk on sunday.
typically, they come from the general area: the circuit or a nearby circuit.

Well now, the discussion is interesting but wild. What a range of demonstrated tolerances and maturities!
I'd say the title of the thread is entirely apropos; Knowledge is nearly completely dissipated by Watchtower protocol and procedure before it is even spoken to the attentive congregations. What is disseminated is dogma and doctrine conceived of by men with little appreciation for The Word.
Thankfully, I somehow was able to resist the brainwashing and mind control techniques so leaving The Cult was far easier for me than many who participate here who are still visibly suffering from the abuse.

I appreciate "our" free speech.
by The Rebel ini had given serious consideration too leaving the board.
i rationalised my views on " muslims" we're not held by the majority so i should leave.
but this would have been wrong thinking, instead i should appreciate the platform i was given to debate with free speech.

Quote from Nancy Drew:I was a fool when I became a witness...
Upon reflection I would say that is a Profound Truth which applies to all of us!
An unpleasant experience to be sure but at the same time beneficial. Sometimes it is necessary to walk in the shoes of the heavily burdened and exploited in order to comprehend their misery.
Thank God for hindsight.

Now that it has been accurately and reliably determined that Radical Islam is in fact a creation of the Intelligence Services of the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel in order to unleash terrorism for foreign policy interests, is the discussion altered in any way?
We seem to be presently living in a World of Cults arranged somewhat like the layers of an onion.
The New World Order is one gigantic Cult.
The United States Government is a Cult.
The Educational System is a Cult.
The Health Care System is a Cult.
Religions are Cults.
etc, etc, etc...
Some families are Cults.
Is it really any wonder why we're all so screwed up?

Day 1: The Night of Anger, Tears, and Pain
by Saethydd inmy freedom came with a heavy cost.
i couldn't stand the dishonesty so when my sister went out of town on a trip i told my parents that i no longer wanted to be a jw.
when my sister got back and i told her she was so angry, said she really wanted to slap me, then she ran off sobbing, a few minutes later she deposited every gift i ever gave her in front of my door.. my entire family has turned against me.

Aye, you've made a wise choice and it seems that you are handling the turmoil quite well.
Your family who remain within the Cult know not what they do; their actions are the result of the exceedingly deeply planted mind control indoctrination which is, very sadly, the only recourse they believe that they have.
As others above have already pointed out; it is essential that you continue to treat all of them with kindness and love when interactions occur. Most importantly, for your own peace of mind and sanity, forgive them completely for what they have done as a manifestation of their fears. For some this part is difficult, but the sooner any feelings of resentment, anger or hatred are let go of the more quickly will your recovery begin.
Best wishes to you. I believe, as the others have stated, that you will indeed do very well and that your healing will be complete.
